One Year Later
A letter to my youngest son.
Dear Ian,
You are one year now.
I can't believe it. But I guess every parent says that. I still remember the exact day I found out we were pregnant with you.
It was in the Roy Rogers in Manassas. We were there for lunch. I had been acting so tired and thought it was maybe because I was on my 3rd week of P90x. I was never one to "mark" my calendar when those time of months came. And also... I was using birth control.
When I saw the digital test say "pregnant" I braced myself against the bathroom door and kept saying over and over "Oh my God..."
I walked out to your daddy and soon to be big brother and started crying and not making sense. I am sure the guy trying to give us our food thought I was crazy.
Those tears were not tears of joy, but when you were born this time last year they were. Tears of joy and happiness. I wouldn't change the timing of when God placed you in our lives at all.
Ian Luke Dawson you have changed my world this last year. You have made me realize more of who I am with your sensitivity when you meet new people. You cry out of fear (which is what I do inside) and are so shy. Yet you will talk happily and smile at strangers while secure in your mommy and daddy's arms. :)
When you were born you didn't scream or cry. You were calm, quiet and then a little whimper.
Now you have grown those lungs and I sometimes pray they don't grow too much more :)
You were my big teddy bear when born. 10 pounds 8 oz. and 23.5 inches long. (ALL NATURAL)
You set the record at the birth center for the biggest baby.
Yes, you are my big teddy bear, and it fits you.
I love you so much my youngest (and last) baby. I can't wait to see your personality form even more this next year and I can't wait to see all the mischief you and your older brother will get into!
Love,
Mommy
