he made me a mom
It was a beautiful day, surprisingly warm weather for October. I was ready to have this baby boy who was 2 weeks "late". He was an anticipated bundle we couldn't wait to lay eyes on.
After taking the castor oil recommended by our midwife the contractions started within the hour and my water broke at 7ishPM. I will never forget standing in the bathroom looking at my particularly enlarged belly and calling to Josh as soon as it broke. He told our midwife and then kissed me and rushed out the door to bring pizza (that we never touched) and snacks for the midwives and myself.
I labored through the next few hours while my husband furiously worked to fill up the tub that we had forgotten to heat. Our midwife slipped in and out from her car quietly through the laboring to check on our little boy and to see how I was doing. Finally fully dilated at 2AM and after screaming, squeezing Josh's hand eagerly and with lots of strength our little lion was born at 2:31AM in the water with lungs that were ready to roar.
Benjamin Conner,
You have never been one to hide what you feel and I love that about you. You enjoy discovering new adventures and ideas on how to build things. You are headstrong, determined, passionate and love to share this with all those around you.
You are a hugger and love rhythms. Which I love too. You especially love a rhythm of bacon and eggs for breakfast each morning and Daddy tucking you in each night. You have a heart for learning and love to go above and beyond in school and if I let you- you would continue working on school all day.
You are a free spirit with determination like your Dad and stubbornness like your Mom. I love seeing you laugh over silly jokes and enjoy a good beat to a song in the car even though you profusely tell me "I don't sing" I know you have a strong voice and I hear you sing quietly in the backseat sometimes. You don't mind a risk and even have shown your brother how to take a risk or two over the past few years.
I hope you always grow in your love for Jesus and for those around you. I hope you always remember to stand out. We love you Ben.
